New Toy Theatre Show!

Rough Magic Theatre's Yummy New Toy Theatre Show

Brand New Toy Theatre Show!

Yes, me dears, it has finally happened.  Rough Magic Theatre are producing a brand new toy theatre show and it’s going to be seen at a major international toy theatre festival, (Vischmarkt Papierentheater Festival, Harderwijk, The Netherlands).  The festival runs from the 1-3rd June 2011.  We are also hoping to perform it at some puppet festivals in the U.K. this year, watch this space on that one.

I intend to document the entire progress of the project from start to finish and to open up technical issues for debate with all of you lovely people out there.

As you can see it is to be Hansel & Gretel and it is to be shown in our unique liquorice decorated toy theatre.  This was first created for Pontefract Liquorice festival and I thought it was about time we actually did a show with it.  So watch this space for more details and developments!

New Shadow Puppet

Edward Lear's "The New Vestments"

Gok Wan, eat your heart out!

This is a shadow puppet for my brand new show that I hope to be seen at the Skipton Puppet Festival, (23/09/11) assuming their funding comes through alright.  It is the “old man” in his “purely original dress” from Edward Lear’s fantastic nonsense poem, “The New Vestments”.  I intend to keep you all updated with the progress of the devising of this show which is to be an additional show for my fabulous mobile shadow suitcase theatre.  The current show for this is “Jabberwocky!” and you can see more details of this at our website (www.roughmagictheatre.co.uk).  I am thinking of calling the show simply “Edward Lear’s nonsense” as I doubt children know what “vestments” means and “The New Clothes” could be confused with “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.  What do you think?  Ideas anyone?
